It is claimed that we are not capitalizing on the natural ability to learn languages which the younger child possesses and which is already warning as the child apporoaches his teens. As a result the FLES(Foreign Language in the Elementary School) movement has spread rapidly not only in the United States but also in the United Kingdom and some countries of Europe. Foreign language have long been taught at this early age in many countries of Asia and Africa where much of the child's education has had to be in a national or international language rather than in the vernacular.
